It endangers anybody that has walked past it without knowing the imminent danger. What a scumbag…. Demolition by neglect is very real. But we keep destroying buildings built in the s and s. Landmarking buildings and whole districts was only possible when the City was declining as freeways made white flight commonplace.

So how come nobody is mentioning the name of the developer, who I guarantee did this deliberately so they could build something new and charge more money? This was not deliberate. This started with a fire on Christmas Eve in the basement that killed David Ryan in the famed apartment and caused structural damage.

Village Preservation has demanded that the City reform its system of oversight which led to the destruction of these and so many other historic properties, and that the responsible parties be held to account and a message sent that such actions will be severely penalized and strongly disincentivized.
